Yes! Beginners are welcome, and the majority of our members are on fitness team with no desire to compete. If you ever change your mind about competing, you are welcome to move up to training team, but you will never be forced to spar if you do not want to. We have an entire team dedicated to fitness through boxing techniques for beginners.

Pay @GT-BoxingClub $200 on Venmo before the membership deadline. Current deadline is January 26th. After payment a membership form must be completed to confirm membership (The form will be sent out after payment).

Please contact our Treasurer, Alex Dunn, and she can work out a payment plan with you. We don’t want price to be something that prevents people from joining.

Due to our high volume of interest, we cannot accept additional members after the deadline. We appreciate your interest, and would love if you joined us the following semester.

Monday-Thursday from 7-8 pm and Saturdays from 10-11 am, and additional morning class Monday-Thursday from 11am-12. The night Monday-Thursday classes and Saturday class is specifically for Tech students. The morning class is opened to all Buckhead Fight Club gym members, but is typically not very crowded. Follow the slack channel and Buckhead Fight Club on Instagram to be updated on deviations of regularly scheduled practice times.

Yes. You may attend open gym hours which are: 

Monday- Thursday: 10:30 am – 9: 00 pm

Saturday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Buckhead Fight Club. Address: 3293 Buford Hwy NE #500, Atlanta, GA 30329. We do not host any practice on campuses for logistical reasons.

We have a carpool system on our slack page. People will post their number of spots and what time they are going to practice, and you must comment a plus one on that message to claim your spot. The executives also will post club sponsored Ubers that function similarly to regular carpoolers. The executive post Ubers based on the amount of people that fill out the survey, and the number of rides currently available. It is important to participate in the poll and post that more people need rides, so that executives know that there are enough people needing rides to justify Uber costs. If less than 2 people respond to a club sponsored Uber post, the offer will be rescinded. The best advice I can give is to make friends with people with cars.

Hand wraps are recommended for everyone to buy. The gym has loner handwraps, but they are heavily used. Mouthguards are required before one can spar, so if you are interested in sparring you should eventually get a mouthguard. The club distributes gloves to be rented and then returned at the end of the semester, but you can also buy your own gloves to keep. If you are serious about competing, boxing shoes are recommended.

Clothes that you feel comfortable exercising in, a filled water bottle (no water fountain at the gym), handwaps, boxing  gloves, buzzcard for signing in.

Gloves are distributed after the first few weeks of practice. They must be returned at the end of the Fall  semester unless you are 100% sure you will be a member in the Spring semester as well. Everyone must return gloves after Spring semester. If people do not return gloves, we will have to start charging for gloves in the future.

The more times you attend  practice the faster you will improve. The promotion between teams is based on the coaches’ discretion. If a coach does not believe you are ready to move up to the next team, do not be discouraged. Keep practicing and you will eventually be able to reach your goal. We want you to be prepared before changing teams as a safety precaution.

Changing teams is a 3 step process:

  1. Talk to your coach.
  2. Talk to an exec member.
  3. Fill out the team change form:

The most important part is talking to your coach. They make the final decision on whether you are ready to advance to the next team. Talking to an exec member lets us know you are interested in competing and is helpful for us to continue building relationships with our members. Filling out the team change form is very important for logistical reasons. The executive team needs to know how many people are in each team, so that we have an adequate amount of equipment amongst other matters.

No. If you are on fitness team, there are no attendance requirements. Training team needs to attend 2+ practices a week. Competitive team needs to attend 3+ practices a week.

If you don’t have a valid excuse for missing your attendance requirements, you will be placed back into your previous team. In reality, you can still practice with the team that fits your skill level, but you will not be entered into competitions unless you have met practice requirements.
